walking paradise around Dachstein

Walking is in vogue again.
The Salzkammergut offers the perfect terrain, here walking has tradition.
Here you find Austrias most famous mountain beside Großglockner,
the Dachstein.
The view from the Lower Gosausee up to the summit of Dachstein,
the glacier below, is known as the most beautiful view in the alps.
You don´t have to be an experienced walker or even a climber
to get that view, that is possible even with a baby buggy. Of course
for the walks where I will take you on this pages "your baby"
should be able to walk alone a fiew hours. And of course on some
walks you should be in good shape and bring good equipment. You
will love it and will always come back.

It is important in the Dachstein,
to take enough to drink with you. Dachstein consists of limestone
and is full of holes, so that the water is not staying at the surface.
In Salzkammergut you will find a lot of caves among them the longest
in Europe.
Sometimes it happens, that when I was thirsty, I could hear the
water, I could even see it, but I could not get it. In the valleys
there is plenty of water, here we never get problems running out
of water and our water quality is famous. You could even drink the
water of the lakes but don´t do it ....
I did all the walking for you and made the photos to give you an
idea of our wonderful landscape. Nevertheless I can´t guarentee
for the correctness. Everybody has to take his own responsibility.
The words "difficult" or "easy" are used in
a different way by different people. Please notice this. It is the
same with the times for the walkings. I made average walking times,
so please consider this, if you are feeling angry about the times.
