Goisererhütte is a
place where the sun nearly never disappears. Right on the edge between
Goisern and Gosau, I think it is one of view huts where sun is shining
the longest time. Starting point is the tourist information of Gosau,
situated opposite the post office beside the road junction.
From the tourist office you follow the road towards Bad Goisern; where
a big sign on the left shows the way to Iglmoosalm and Goisererhütte.
After about 500 metres this road ends where a gravel road is starting.
Here is also space for about 10 cars.
We follow the gravel road just 50 metres. Turning left we cross a
small meadow with two wodden soccer goals. After a ten minutes walk
through a nice wood we reach again the gravel road which we could
have followed too, but it would have taken much longer.
At the next turn just 50 m further we leave the gravel road again
and a small path is carrying us up to Iglmoosalm. Iglmoosalm is a
very traditionell hut from where you can see both Dachstein and the
mountains of Gosaukamm.
From Iglomoosalm you just follow the marked way, which is crossing
the gravel road several times. After 20 minutes the gravel road turns
into a valley and and Gosaukamm and Dachstein are disappearing. You
are leaving the road soon at a signpost. A small path is leading up
to a place called "Saugrube". In springtime in this part
you will often find snow, even if you don´t expect it.
Reaching an alp with plenty of small huts, Goiserhütte now is
not far away. The scenery is changing now. Finally we have left the
wood and old larches are edging the path now. We have just made it.
Goisererhütte is a small mountain refuge run by the alpine club
of Goisern. At an altitude of 1592 m it is lying between Sonnwendkogel
and Kalmberg. It is very popular by the residents of Goisern, so that
it can be very busy on sunny weekends.
1833 m high Kalmberg is just 1
hour away.
